We’ve enjoyed a great start to the 2013 year, with a number of early April and May weddings now done and dusted – discos all packed away and great feedback received from the brides and guests.
We ended the May Bank Holiday Weekend with a very busy Friday, Saturday and Sunday finish. Setups in the early morning for each day, late nights entertaining guests, and then back on the road bright and early – it’s a tough life providing wedding discos you know!
We’ve been at Woodhall Manor near Woodbridge, Hintlesham Golf Club near Hadleigh, Wherstead Park in, where else but Wherstead, Haughley Park Barn near Stowmarket, Greshams sports and Social Club in Ipswich and finally, the Belstead Brook Hotel also in Ipswich.
This month has brought us some unusual wedding disco requests. Since Will Smith’s appearance on the Graham Norton show, we’ve had two group dance offs of the Sugar Hill Gang (apache) Jump on it! Catch it while you can here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbZct9Ey-CI (at 4mins 30 in).
It was also a fantastic idea of one groom to play a song dedicated to his new wife, Eric Clapton – Wonderful Tonight, followed by the Brides choice of song to get the guests up on the dance floor straight away, Black Eyed Peas – I got a feeling… tonight’s gonna be a good night!
The bookings have been coming in over the last few months, since the end of the Spring wedding fayre season, around end of March time for most. We’re seeing dates coming in for Summer 2014 now, so if you haven’t yet got in touch and booked your wedding DJ and Disco, then be quick, you may miss out on the disco of your life! haha
To end the Spring season, and this post, we’re going to detail myBigFatWeddingDisco.com’s escapade on radio! If you haven’t seen the Vans driving around, you will do at some point! They’re hard to miss. We received an invitation from BBC Radio Suffolk who we’re keen to have a chat with us and talk about our unusual name after they we’re stuck in traffic behind one of the vans! We had a barrel of laughs with Georgina Wroe on her Sunday morning show. We discussed the art and composure of the modern wedding disco, some of our services and the great songs we use to get your party started.
